Resurfacing Old Concrete Floor

A manufacturing company in Etobicoke was looking to restore their worn out concrete floor to expand their operations and assemble heavy equipment on the floor for their new product line. The floor was not a good candidate to receive an epoxy coating due to the fact that only 20% of the floor had a smooth surface left. They also needed a floor that would withstand constant heavy load and would last up to 15 years.

Floorcrete recommended a 100% solid epoxy mortar system that would not only resurfaces the old concrete but also performs extremely well under heavy load and traffic. The compressive strength of the system after full cure is 10,000 psi which makes it 3 times higher than concrete’s compressive strength.

After the floor was mechanically prepped by Blastrac, all saw cuts and joints were identified routed out and cleaned and sealed accordingly. Failure to identify type of the joints in the floor could result in floor failure at these joints. It is extremely important to identify the different types of floor joints and treat them, with a sealer formulated and designed for that type of  concrete joint.

Floorcrete was able to finish the project on time and deliver a floor that met the comany`s management team expectations.
